Val started learning piano at age of 6 and gave his first public concert at age of 7.
Since then Val has given over 140 concerts and performances in his own community and around the country. Val had his first TV Interview at age of 8. He produced his first CD at age of 9, performed his first Piano concerto (one movement) with Coeur d’Alene Youth Orchestra at age of 10. Val’s second 14 tracks CD that includes his own compositions and arrangements was released when Val was still 10. Val was invited for his first 55 min Radio Interview in January, 2010 at age 11. Val was awarded a Gold Medal with Superior score of 99 at Musicfest Northwest at Gonzaga University in May 2010 for his outstanding performance of the 3rd movement of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. In December 2011 Val earned a Gold Medal again at Eastern Washington University Piano Competition. At age of 11 Val started giving benefit concerts for local charitable organizations and helped to raise thousands of needed dollars. Just recently Val's had an honor to provide a Solo Entertainment for Idaho State Governor and 350 other state legislators. Outside of music Val is greatly involved in Boy Scouting and doing 8th grade school work. Val is 13 years old today. Val has been working with composer Gary A. Edwards from North Idaho. Val has performed three of Edwards' musical pieces in concert or on the radio including, Summerwind, The Gypsy Tango, Polyana, and a Lullaby for Kendall. Gary has also written a 35 minute piano concerto dedicated to Val Wold and we are looking forward to hearing it in premiere concert with an orchestra soon. For more information about composer Gary A.
